Sub-Lieutenant Lindsey Ashwood
Vivid Officer Flies High In The US
HMS Vivid Sub-Lieutenant Lindsey Ashwood
has just returned from a high flying exped in the United States.
An experienced skydiver, S/Lt Ashwood was one of 30 naval personnel
who
took part in Ex USA Freefall at Perris Valley Skydiving in California.
During the two week trip, which was generously part-funded by the
Sports Lottery, experienced members of the RNRM Sports Parachute
Association received World-class coaching from members of the highly
regarded Perris Fury 4-way team. This was consolidated by time in
the Perris wind tunnel - a facility where jumpers can emulate skydiving,
without the need of an aeroplane or good weather! Eight new jumpers
also qualified as skydivers during the trip. S/Lt Ashwood said: "It
was a fantastic exped, everyone learnt so much. Perris is a fabulous
location for coaching; it's really set us up for a great season ahead".
S/Lt Ashwood and fellow members of the RNRMSPA will be taking part
in the Armed Forces Skydiving Championships later this year, as well
as military championships in Germany and the British Nationals.
